What we do
As parents we frequently say, “I wish my kids play like we used to, outside!” The reality of it is that our children are not experiencing the outdoors as we did. Children cannot play on their own as it is not safe. Parents are working long hours and do not have the much disposable time.
Children have a need to explore and discover. They have a hunger for knowledge and new experiences and as parents, we simply cannot always feed this hunger.
DUSTY FEET offers an outdoor educational program like no other. Targeted at children and families, our small, intimate excursions will give children the opportunity to discover and explore nature while learning new skills, appreciating our environment, learning about our local fauna and flora while being active and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
We also offer tailor made day trips for small family or adult groups who would like an intimate experience in the Overberg and its surrounds – tell us where you want to go, and we’ll make a plan!
Join us on a guided day hike in the Overberg area, or on a unique guided inflatable SUP trip in one of the estuaries in the area, the Kleinriver or even the Breede River.
About
At the forefront of Dusty Feet is Kobus Stofberg - an experienced teacher, sports coach and outdoorsman who has a passion for the outdoors and sharing experiences with others.
At the University of Stellenbosch Kobus obtained his degree in Sports Science, where he specialised in Adventure and Recreational Studies. He continued to obtain a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and entered the adventure industry after graduation. After time as a river guide, acting as a lead guide on the Orange River, the Doring River, Breede River and the Palmiet River, Kobus returned to education. He started working at The Hout Bay International School as a Primary School PE teacher, but the role soon became that of Director of Sport, building a school sports program and an extensive extra-curricular program.
Outdoor Education formed an important part of the extra-curricular program and what started as a few hikes a term soon turned into something much more comprehensive. The groups started mountain biking, snorkelling, exploring intertidal zones, coastering and even had a few survival days. It has long been one of the most popular and anticipated clubs on the program and it remains very popular today.
